The coronavirus pandemic has left us with many questions about how it will reshape the future of the real estate business. We have had to rethink how we conduct our typical day to day practice, from filming virtual walk-throughs to limiting open houses to one showing per person, while wearing masks, booties and the smell of hand sanitizer.
One thing we do know for sure, there has been a mass exodus from New York City, where many of its inhabitants who have the means, are seeking greener, much safer pastures of the suburbs that surround this dense metropolis. What was once considered second homes are now becoming primary safe houses as a means to leave behind the city life for good, which seems to have forever changed post-corona.
I recently interviewed two Douglas Elliman agents, each who represent listings for two different areas many are making their pilgrimage. The Hudson Valley and Connecticut.
Jennifer Leahy is one of the top Elliman agents in Connecticut. She has has a varied career in real estate and mortgage brokering. She also co-founded Cambodia’s Children Education Fund, has a Master in Special Education and she is a meditator. She spoke with me about the market during the Covid-19 Crisis and how many people are feeling NY to move to Connecticut.
Margaret Harrington, is another top producing Elliman agent, who specializes in listings in the Hudson Valley and environs. She spoke to me about the housing market post coronavirus pandemic and how Hudson Valley being right outside of New York City has always been a place where you can buy a very affordable second home.
