Summer means travel! And every year, I like to visit my mother who lives in Provence,France. Thus, as a frequent visitor of the area, I’m often asked by friends and family where they should stay and what to do there. As a result of their high demand for travel tips for Provence, I have compiled a list of my favorite and best hotels and restaurants, including suggestions for San Tropez. Ultimately, most of these are unknown to Americans, so be sure to keep these exclusive, local travel tips a secret between us!
In the list below, you’ll find what to do and where to stay in Provence (and the South France area):
1. Lily of the Valley Hotel in La Croix-Valmer. Designed by Phillipe Starck, it’s the most fabulous hotel possibly in the world. For example, it’s beautifully appointed and has great views, gym, several pools, and a beach club with a pizza oven. Insanely good food and drinks – even health food! In other words, your stay here can easily become an indulging spa weekend.

2. Moulin de la Camandoule. Located in my mother’s village, where there are many Michelin-rated restaurants, this restaurant is our family’s treasure. Meaning, this is where we celebrate all of our family weddings, christenings, and birthdays.
3. Chez Hugo is another great restaurant in my mother’s village. Therefore, you can always catch myself and my family here as well!
4. Hotel Deux Rocs is insanely pretty, especially on Bastille day. But most importantly, you need to eat outside next to the fountain. Afterwards, follow the Mayor’s procession to the fireworks show. It’s magical.

5. Terre Blanche is where I always stay. Firstly, it has an amazing pool at which you can sit and enjoy their famous crepes in your pool chair. Secondly, it has luxury amenities and finally, it’s located in one of France’s famous countrysides! If you’re looking to really get away and find your inner piece and bliss, you should certainly stay here.

6. La Pinede Plage. I used to stay here before Lily of the Valley was built, but it’s still fun for lunch or drinks by the sea. The staff are typically French. Say no more.
7. Le France is a good restaurant in the village my mother used to live in. It has a great market on Saturday mornings and the stores around the market are amazing too, even for clothes, and especially for beer and a charcuterie plate.
