BEWARE OF PRICE GOUGING
It’s crucial to stay vigilant against price gouging in the aftermath of the recent devastating fires, where businesses unfairly inflate prices on essential goods or services like water, or basic supplies. If you notice significant price increases compared to pre-disaster levels, it may be a violation of California law. Be sure to document the business name, item or service, and the price, then report it to the California Attorney General’s Office or your local consumer protection agency. Protect yourself and others by staying informed and speaking up if you suspect exploitation.

Additionally, LADWP is urging customers to conserve water during the firefighting efforts. Those in the 90272 and adjacent areas north of San Vicente should use boiled tap or bottled water, and those in the Pasadena area should only use bottled water.
ADDITIONAL TIPS
In times of heightened fire risk, small actions can make a big difference in protecting your home and supporting firefighters. Consider leaving your pool accessible for firefighters to use as a water source if needed during emergencies. Additionally, take proactive steps like cleaning debris from your gutters and removing dry leaves or brush around your property to reduce fire hazards. These simple measures not only help safeguard your home but also make it easier for firefighters to do their job effectively during critical moments.
