Local’s Guide: Discover the Charm of West Adams

As a Los Angeles real estate agent, I have the pleasure of exploring some of the city’s most fascinating neighborhoods. One area that truly stands out is the Historic West Adams district—a neighborhood brimming with architectural charm, vibrant culture, and some of my absolute favorite spots to eat, shop, and relax. Whether you’re a local Angeleno or just visiting, West Adams offers an eclectic mix of experiences that highlight LA’s diversity and creativity.

On the Market: Beautiful Home with ADU

Located on one of the best streets in West Adams, 3058 Vineyard Avenue consists of a completely renovated 3 bedroom/2.5 bathroom main house plus a detached ADU with 1 bedroom/1 bathroom, full kitchen, and laundry. A sun-filled living room with barrel ceilings and a picture window overlooking the butterfly garden in the front yard flows into the open dining room and kitchen.

The fully permitted detached ADU features a full kitchen, living area, 1 bedroom, and 1 bathroom, and has a separate address, making it an ideal space for guests or as an income-generating rental unit.

Unbeatable location in West Adams, close to hotspots like Mizlala, Cento Pasta Bar, Alta, and Highly Likely, plus easy access to the 10 fwy and the Expo Line.

So if you’re looking to live in this vibrant district, contact me at [email protected] to set up a private showing.

Where to Eat

West Adams offers an incredible culinary scene. Here are some of my go-to spots:

  • Mizlala – A Mediterranean spot known for its warm spices, fresh ingredients, and inviting atmosphere. Perfect for a casual, flavorful meal.
  • Vicky’s All Day – A neighborhood gem. Enjoy everything from delicious breakfast burritos to specialty lattes. Especially great for an all-day brunch or a quick pick-me-up.
  • Farmhouse Kitchen Thai Cuisine – This modern Thai spot brings bold flavors and a fantastic vibe to the area. An authentic Thai dining experience with a contemporary twist.
  • Highly Likely – The ultimate cafe-meets-bistro, Highly Likely serves everything from avocado toast to mouthwatering burgers, in a relaxed, airy setting that’s perfect for a laid-back meal.
  • Johnny’s Pastrami – A classic LA spot reinvented with a chic outdoor setting and legendary pastrami sandwiches. Perfect for an iconic taste of the city.
  • Alta – Known for its elevated soul food. Alta serves dishes like fried chicken, cornbread, and grits that make you feel right at home.
  • Harold & Belle’s – A true West Adams staple, Harold & Belle’s has been serving up Creole cuisine since 1969. Don’t miss their gumbo and jambalaya!
  • Prime Cafe – A great stop for fresh pastries, coffee, and a quick breakfast or lunch.
  • Cento – A pasta haven in a cozy spot, Cento specializes in handmade pasta that’s perfect for a romantic dinner or solo indulgence.
  • Chulita – A beautiful spot with modern Mexican flavors and unique cocktails. Their tacos and churros are a must!
  • Central Kitchen at The Lorenzo – A casual eatery with a menu that’s constantly evolving, making it a fun spot to grab lunch or dinner.
  • Taqueria Los Anaya – Authentic, no-fuss Mexican cuisine with some of the best tacos in LA.
  • Honey Bee’s House of Breakfast – Known for hearty breakfasts and friendly service, this spot is perfect for weekend brunch.
  • Delicious Pizza – Pizza with a side of culture, as it’s run by members of the Delicious Vinyl record label. Their pies are just as creative as their music!
  • Collins Fish Market – This classic fish market serves up some of the freshest seafood dishes around.

For Plant Lovers

Enhance your space with some greenery from these local nurseries:

  • C & S Nursery – A well-stocked nursery with a variety of plants, from succulents to trees, and plenty of expertise on how to keep them healthy.
  • First Image Nursery – Known for rare and unusual plants, it’s the perfect spot to find unique additions for your garden or home.
  • Rolling Greens – Culver City – A sprawling nursery with plants, pots, and décor to help make any space feel like an oasis.

Grocery and Specialty Shops

From everyday essentials to curated wines, West Adams has you covered:

  • Ralphs – A convenient option for all your grocery needs, with a wide selection and friendly service.
  • Whole Foods – Known for organic and specialty products, Whole Foods offers a great range of high-quality groceries.
  • Target – Perfect for grabbing essentials, home goods, and more.
  • Adams Wine Shop – A must-visit boutique wine shop with a thoughtfully curated selection. They specialize in natural, organic, and biodynamic wines.

Alsace LA – Boutique Hotel

For those looking to stay in West Adams or recommend a spot for out-of-town visitors, Alsace LA is a boutique hotel with a modern aesthetic and luxury amenities. Furthermore, it captures the essence of the neighborhood with a stylish and comfortable vibe that’s perfect for a getaway.
