Juliette’s Neighborhood Guide: Where to Eat & Shop in Sherman Oaks

Juliette’s Neighborhood Guide: Where to Eat, Shop, and Walk Around in Sherman Oaks

Sherman Oaks is home to some of the best dining in the Valley, with great local restaurants and shops lining iconic Ventura Boulevard. An ideal neighborhood for families, young professionals, as well as hot celebrities, the neighborhood is known for its desirable shopping & dining destinations along with quiet, tree-lined suburban residential pockets.

WHERE TO DINE

Home to the iconic Sherman Oaks Galleria, Westfield Fashion Square, and the extensive strip of trendy boutiques, cafes, and restaurants lining Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks is a popular area for families looking to put down roots. Some of my favorite restaurants can be found below!

1. Bacari

Lively Mediterranean fare with shareable small plates and pleasant outdoor seating.

2. Casita

Delicious Mexican food in a Tulum-inspired setting, featuring signature margaritas and modern tacos.

3. BLVD

Refined & timeless, this bold steakhouse serves prime cuts and fresh seafood.

4. Le Petit Trois

Open daily for indoor & patio dining, Petit Trois Le Valley is inspired by classic Parisian bistros. Featuring intimate dining options, menu favorites include Escargot, French Onion Soup, melt in your mouth omelettes, and their Big Mec, voted Best Burger in America in 2016!

5. Osteria La Buca

Traditional Italian eatery, the menu reflects a less complicated classic grassroots approach to Italian country dining. Their menu features a wide variety of pasta dishes, gourmet pizzas, and a great cocktail list!

6. Taisho

Located on Ventura Boulevard’s Restaurant Row, this Japanese restaurant offers fresh ingredients from robata skewers to sashimi and more. They have a wonderful selection of inventive cocktails, including Japanese sake & whiskey, California wines, and craft beers.

7. Local Peasant

From the team behind Scopa, The Local Peasant is one of Sherman Oaks’ staple restaurants. They have a fantastic weekend brunch with specials including steak burritos, lobster rolls, and pork belly with eggs. If Happy Hour is more your style, they have a great selection of bar inspired food such as buffalo wings, German pretzels, and more.

8. Mistal

A true French bistro in the heart of Sherman Oaks, this neighborhood mainstay is super vibey with dark wood interiors, chandeliers, and a gorgeous menu! Cozy and dimly lit, this is the perfect spot for date night.

9. Anajak Thai

Wok-fired dishes, curries, fried chicken, seasonal seafood, and more! Anajak Thai is a longtime favorite known for their awarded wine list, Thai Taco Tuesday, and classic a la carte menu. The Southern Thai fried chicken is a must-try (add on the caviar, you won’t regret it!) and the various curries and soups are perfect fall dishes.

WHERE TO SHOP

If you’re looking for unique shopping experiences, Sherman Oaks is home to many great local boutiques as well as well known brands.

1. Westfield Shopping Mall

Walking distance from my new listing on Valley Vista, the multi-level Westfield mall carries all of the top brands, casual dining, and favored stores you’re looking for.

2. Warby Parker

In need of trendy eyeglasses? Warby Parker has a great selection of both daily glasses & sunglasses, and they even offer eye exams on-site!

WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE

1. Trader Joe’s

Everyone’s favorite grocery store, Trader Joe’s is mere moments from my listing on Valley Vista!

2. Stanley’s

A welcoming atmosphere with a comforting menu, this is the best family-owned American restaurant in Sherman Oaks!

3. Erewhon

Who doesn’t love a trip to Erewhon for expensive groceries, great smoothies, and dinner from the hot bar?

WHERE TO LIVE

If you’re considering a move to the Valley and want to live in a great house walking distance from most of the above mentioned destinations, I have the perfect listing for you!

14161 Valley Vista Boulevard
5 Beds, 5 Baths, 3,492 SF, 0.27 Acre Lot

Beautiful, art lover’s paradise with pool in Sherman Oaks!

Located South of the Boulevard on a lovely tree-lined street, this wonderfully unique home offers 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms in a spectacular resort-like setting. On the first floor, a large, sun-filled formal living room is centered around an impressive stone fireplace. The formal dining room flows to the newly updated chef’s kitchen complete with a butler’s pantry, a sunny breakfast area, and family room, all with new Italian porcelain floors. Rounding out the first floor, you’ll find a powder room, office/guest bedroom, and a peaceful primary wing, which includes a spacious bedroom that opens to the back garden, a spa-like bathroom, walk-in closet, and a separate wellness room with a sauna. Upstairs, there are 3 additional bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Above the detached 3-car garage, there is a large guest studio suite with vaulted ceilings, bathroom, kitchenette, and private balcony. The backyard is a truly magical escape with lush landscaping, multiple seating and dining areas, making it a perfect place to host parties. The heated pool has been renovated with new pool equipment, the new outdoor kitchen has a built-in grill and refrigerator, and there is a pergola-covered dining table that seats 12. Fantastic location in Sherman Oaks, only a few blocks from the shopping and dining on Ventura Blvd, including Whole Foods, Bacari, and Petit Trois. Beautiful design, modern updates, backyard oasis, stellar location, this home has it all!
